Knockmaa Jack

We are excited to bring to you Knockmaa Jack of Knockmaa Working Border Collies in West Ireland.

Jack is a home bred and trained registered Border Collie of exceptional courage, stamina, intelligence, focus and super temperament.  He is registered with the International Sheepdog Society and many kennel clubs.

He is health checked and clear for Cea, Ncl and Tns.  He is of medium coat and very well built with pricked ears.  He also carries the gene for red/brown so he has sired some stunning red dogs and bitches.

He has bred many quality dogs that have continue to win trials and sired the top price bitch Nell at the Skipton Dog Sales in the UK. 

Jack currently has offspring in Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales, France, Germany, Hungary, Austria, Switzerland and the United States.

Jack is now retired and we are proud to be able to offer stud service in the USA!

Michael Hynes, his wife and son (Mikey) live on their small family farm nestled at the foot of Knockmaa Hill near Headford.  When you look to the west you can see the beautiful picturesque valleys and mountains of Connemara a very popular tourist destination that starts sometimes with a visit to Ashford Castle in Cong County Mayo where the legendary film "A Quiet Man" was made starring the brilliant John Wayne and the beautiful Maureen O Harare.

"My son is the 5th generation shepherd that I know of my farther michael also was a well known dog trainer as was his father William and my great grandfather Pat Joe Hynes." 

All were small farmers in the west of Ireland however, Michael was the first to compete at open sheepdog trials and won the Connaught Farmer's Trophy in his second year with his exceptional dog now lovingly known as Knockmaa Jack!
